Reverie
Drop in a folder of photos and music. Reverie dissolves them into a moving, beat-synced memory film. Mac app, free 7-day trial.
- Beat-synced edits. Drop in music, and Reverie fits your photos and clips to the beat (for example one cut every 2 beats), then repeats photos to fill the song.
- Photos and video clips. Mix stills and .MOV/.mp4 clips in one timeline, including iPhone HDR.
- Dissolves and morphs. Smooth morphs, warps and slow blends between clips, adjustable per clip or for the whole film.
- Visual layers. MilkDrop and ISF shader layers add generative backgrounds, and a Mandala layer adds mirrored, spinning patterns with its own palettes. All blend with your photos in several modes.
- Automation lanes. Draw curves over the timeline, Ableton-style, to fade layer opacity, morph, warp and reactivity in and out.
- Looks and presets. One click applies a mood (sepia, mono, glitch, zoom), and you can save your own looks.
- Music-driven effects. Rhythmic and matrix drive modes make effects follow the audio.
- Live camera layer (experimental). Put yourself in the film: turn your webcam into an alien, cat, insect or robot that follows your body, swap your background, and record a take with sound. Still rough, and some looks work better than others.
- Drag and drop. Drop a folder of photos, clips or a song onto the window to import it.
- Safe by design. Reduce-flashing mode, full undo/redo, and a timeline you can scrub and slip.
- Export. Render the finished film to a video file with your music.
macOS, Apple silicon (M1 or later). Beta, unsigned: the email explains the one-time “Open Anyway” step.
